Why Tavis Quit The Tom Joyner Morning Show: According To Tom Joyner…

Ain't That A...?!, Country Fried Mess, General, In Celebrity News, Life, Life In The U.S.A, Uh-uh This Ain't Funny! 2 Comments »
I’ve tried to listen on many occasions to the Tom Joyner Morning Show (TJMS)…but for some reason, I just can’t get into the show. The few times I have listened, the points of interest that held my attention were the scholarships awarded and the giving away of $$$ to people who deserved it. I truly admire Joyner’s philanthropic efforts.
Having said that, I was saddened to read Tavis Smiley quit the TJMS as a featured guest- not due to conflicting interests, money disagreements, or creative differences.
According to Tom Joyner, Tavis Smiley quit the show bcuz he was not receiving love from the black community.

sigh I don’t know what has transpired between listeners and Tavis Smiley, but if that fact is true-then it’s downright shameful.
Click here to read the open letter Tom Joyner has written to the black community/TJMS listeners. That move by Tom Joyner was brave, risky and the right thing to do.
Here’s wishing Tavis Smiley the best in all that he strives to do.
Update:  Tavis speaks and gives further clarification.  Read here.

BELGRADE (Reuters) - A Serb farmer used a grinding machine to cut in half his farm tools and machines to comply with a court ruling that he must share all his property with his ex-wife, local media reported on Thursday.   Chain Saw

Branko Zivkov, 76, told Belgrade daily Kurir he had been ready to give his wife Vukadinka her equal share of everything earned during their 45-year marriage, but was furious at being asked to give away half his farming equipment.

Instead, he bought a grinder and cut in two all his tools, including large items such as cattle scales, a harrow and a sowing machine.

“I still haven’t decided how to split the cow,” he told the newspaper. “She should just say what she wants — the part with the horns or the part with the tail.” source

Gramps, is crazy for real! A lot of anger fueled his cut-up antics! lol  I’m just glad they didn’t have to split up the kids!  Lawd knows what he would’ve come up with!

This ni**a has a lot of doggone nerve…If I could gain access to Bobby, he’d get slapped upside the head with two crackpipes, fo’ sho.’
*****Bobby, done gone and wrote (scribbled on napkins) a book, so he can keep up child support payments, now that Whitney’s not making the payments anymore**

Step 1 of the 12 Steps to Sobriety is:
We (I) admitted we (I) were (was) powerless over our (my) addiction - that our (my) lives (life)had become unmanageable.”
The reason I brought that step up, is to set up a quote from Bobby’s book:
“I never used cocaine until after I met Whitney. Before then, I had experimented with other drugs, but marijuana was my drug of choice…”
Ok, maybe the paragraph before that statement should’ve been included so that assumptions can’t be made, and the above statement could be taken out of context.
But since it isn’t…here goes:
If Bobby thinks we’re dense enough to believe he had never used cocaine until Whitney, then I’m a blonde barbie doll, with a 26in. waist, with $50m in my bank account. Since we all know that’s a lie…we also know Bobby ain’t keepin’ it real either. Now I’m not saying Whitney didn’t have the resources to introduce bobby to some new-fangled drugs, but I’m willing to bet he tried ‘caine at least 4,562,114 x’s before hookin’ up with Whitney.
Man puhhhleeezze!
What’s messed up is Bobby has to pimp his relationship with Whitney in order to remain relevant. Cuz keepin’ it real, noone is interested in Bobby rehashing his drug use and child support payment issues.
Uh-Uh.
Erryone wants to hear about WHITNEY.
Sadly, I do too.
It’s morbid curiosity.
I want to know about Whitney, but I don’t want to know.
However, I wish I would buy Bobby aka “King of R & B’s” book.
Not even on my worse “fiend out for a book” day.
I guess you gotta do what you gotta do to generate an income, right?
Well, I know what you’re asking:
What does Whitney think of all of this? According to People Magazine, Whitney said:
“Miss Houston is sad that Bobby feels he needs to say such things but she chooses to take the high road and will not speak badly about the father of her child even if it’s to set the record straight.”
Whitney, I ain’t mad at you girlfriend :)

What Did U THINK He Was Going To Say??

And You Can Quote Me On This..., Country Fried Mess, General, How STUPID was that?!, Life in Politics, Obama & Clinton, What In The...?! 1 Comment »

I’m not a dr., nor do I play on one tv…but if I had to diagnose Sen. Clinton with a mental illness, I would say she appears to be suffering from Delusions of Grandeur. Granted, deluding oneself is a lot easier to face then our reality, but lady come on!! Senator, I’m not sure as to who’s been whispering false sweet nothings in ur ear, but have u looked at the results from these Super Tuesdays?? And please don’t let OH & TX be an indicator as to how you think you’ll end up. I mean, not the results your people pass onto you, but go to a credible website such as CNN, MSNBC, Yahoo! News…I mean the choices are endless. You’ll get real results in real time! Why did you think Obama would risk his life (literally) to begin this foray only to give it up in March-EIGHT MOS before the elections to accept your irrational proposal??? I’m not a dr., nor do I play one on tv, BUT R U CRAZY?! Lady shelve the hallucinogens, stop letting Bill blow smoke up your keister, make a cup of coffee w/a shot of strong liquor and sit down and read the REAL RESULTS OF THIS RACE…UR LOSING! Sorry I had to be the one to break it to u…but it’s true. Now read on about what Obama had to say about your insane proposal:

(CNN) — Sen. Barack Obama Monday flatly rejected suggestions he would be a vice presidential running mate for Sen. Hillary Clinton.

President Clinton Saturday suggested a Clinton-Obama ticket would be “unstoppable.”

“He would win the urban areas and the upscale voters. She would win the rural areas that we lost when President Reagan was president,” he said while campaigning in Pass Christian, Mississippi. “If you put those two things together, you’d have an almost unstoppable force.” Video Watch Bill Clinton tout a ‘dream ticket’ »

Obama forcefully shot that idea down.

“Sen. Clinton is fighting hard. She’s tenacious. I respect her for that. She is working hard to win the nomination. But I want everybody to be absolutely clear. I’m not running for vice president. I’m running for president of the United States of America,” Obama told supporters during a rally in Columbus, Mississippi.

If anyone should be suggesting vice presidential candidates, it should be him, Obama said.

“With all due respect. I won twice as many states as Sen. Clinton. I’ve won more of the popular vote than Sen. Clinton. I have more delegates than Sen. Clinton. So, I don’t know how somebody who’s in second place is offering vice presidency to the person who’s in first place,” he said. Video Watch Obama spike a Clinton-Obama ticket »

Obama also said the Clinton campaign was “hoodwinking” voters when it suggested he was not ready to be president while also floating the possibility of a joint Clinton-Obama ticket.

“I don’t understand,” he said. “If I’m not ready, how is it that you think I should be such a great vice president?”

Obama was campaigning in Mississippi a day before the state holds its primary Tuesday, while Clinton keeps her eye on the next big prize on the Democratic calendar, Pennsylvania.

Thirty-three delegates are at stake Tuesday, and in the tight Democratic race, every delegate is critical. CNN estimates Obama leads Clinton 1,553 to 1,438. A candidate needs 2,025 delegates to win the nomination.

Obama won the Wyoming caucuses Saturday, where he picked up seven delegates. Clinton won five delegates.

Don’t Miss

Obama was also scheduled to hold a rally in Jackson, Mississippi, Monday, while Clinton was set to hold campaign events in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania holds its primary April 22.

The divergent paths on their campaign trails may be a reflection of what the campaigns view as their political strengths.

Obama has done well in Southern states that have large African-American populations. Clinton has done better in industrial states with large groups of blue-collar voters such as Ohio, which she won last week. Video Watch why black voters are flocking to the polls »

Going into Tuesday’s voting, Obama has a double-digit lead over Clinton in Mississippi, polls suggested. An American Research Group poll conducted March 5-6 of likely primary voters had Obama leading Clinton 58 percent to 34 percent with 5 percent supporting another candidate and 3 percent unsure. The poll’s margin of error is plus or minus 4 percentage points. Video Watch an Obama aide explain why Obama will not be a VP candidate »

Clinton has not conceded the state to Obama, however. She campaigned there last week, and her husband campaigned there over the weekend. Video Watch how Hurricane Katrina is shaping Tuesday’s election »

As the race has remained in a virtual deadlock, pressure has been mounting on party officials to find a solution that lets Michigan and Florida have some input in the nomination process.

Both states were stripped of their delegates by the national Democratic Party after they violated party rules and moved their primaries to January. Clinton won both contests.

None of the top-tier candidates campaigned in either state before the votes, and Obama was not on the ballot in Michigan.

How the question is resolved could have a significant impact on the Democratic race. Florida has 210 delegates, while Michigan has 156 delegates.

Ann Lewis, a senior Clinton adviser, argued the outcome of Florida’s January primary should be used to allocate Florida’s delegates. Watch Lewis explain why the Florida results should count Video

“Here’s what we think the criteria should be: Recognize and respect the fact so many Florida Democrats did come out,” Lewis said. “Let’s remember and recognize the people who did show up and appreciate that they thought votes should be counted.”

But comments by Howard Dean, the chairman of the Democratic National Committee, suggested party leaders would not support that position.

“I think it’s very unlikely that Florida and Michigan, given how close this race is, are going to be seated as is,” Dean told CBS Sunday. “But everybody’s going to work very hard to find a compromise within the rules that’s fair to both campaigns that will allow Florida and Michigan in the end to be seated.”

Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Florida, has proposed Florida Democrats get a chance to vote again using mail-in ballot, saying a full primary using regular voting machines would be prohibitively expensive.

Nelson estimated the cost of conducting an election using mail-in ballots would be about $6 million. Florida’s Democratic Party would raise the money to pay for the mail-in election, he said.

Two prominent Democratic fundraisers — Gov. Ed Rendell of Pennsylvania and Gov. John Corzine of New Jersey — suggested they would be willing to help raise the funds necessary to hold new elections in Florida and Michigan.

A letter outlining their proposal was published Sunday in the Washington Post. Rendell and Corzine said they would help raise half of the $30 million they estimated it would take to hold primaries in Florida and Michigan.

Both Rendell and Corzine back Clinton, but former Sen. Tom Daschle, Obama’s campaign co-chairman, said the Obama campaign would be open to the two campaigns raising funds for new primaries. source

This story is a little too in depth to sum up in Bria’s Own Words. I will add some of my words…but I’m totally exhausted. *sigh* I read about this idiot 1st at Wayne’s blog, Electronic Village, and then on Eurweb.com .

Question: How can hot crispiness such as this go on? If we wrote, spoke, sang about “stereotypes” in the gay community, we’d have Advocate Mag, Out Mag, Ellen & her crew, the HRC -etc, all over us. How about I write a screenplay (and perform myself-a one woman show) about a gay character named Condomless Comebucket Random-Sex, Esq. Condomless (”C” for short) would be a composite of stereotypical gay men…i.e.,-limp wristed, walking with their butts sticking out, exaggerated swishing, 2-coats of MAC lipglass plastered on lips, wishing they were women, making sexual innuendos out every NONE-SEXUAL SENTENCE, dramatic, with a flair for hair- cosmetics-AND interior decorating, disowned by family, shoplifting (booster), tricking on the stroll (or wherever “C” can get 5 minutes of privacy), boxcutter (knife, razor) carrying, gloryhole seeking, and riddled with AIDS??? I can hear it now…a demand for a public apology from me! How do you justify Isaiah Washington BEING FIRED for calling a castmate a “Fa**ot,” but a gay person is making light of black people for a living, bcuz his other talent can’t be viewed in public??…I’m not going to go there.

Send an email to HRC (Human Rights Campaign-committee dedicated to fighting for equality in GLBT communities) I did:

ACTIVISTS PROTEST AGAINST BLACKFACE CHARACTER: Web site launched to ban “Shirley Q. Liquor”; Bev Smith’s radio show in the fight.

*Several activists are coming out in force to express outrage with Charles Knipp, a 45-year-old, gay, drag comedian best known for performing in blackface as his alter ego character, Shirley Q. Liquor – nicknamed “the Queen of Ignunce.”

Shirley Q. Liquor

Charles Knipp in tasteless character (complete w/blackface),”Shirley Q. Liquor”

Knipp describes Liquor as being “an illiterate welfare mother with 19 kids who guzzles malt liquor and drives a Caddy.” Her conversation is saturated with malapropisms. For example, she says her cat needs to get “sprayed,” and she pronounces K-Mart and Wal-Mart “K-Mark” and ‘Wal-Mark.”

The character attends Mount Holy Olive Second Baptist Zion Church of God in Christ of Resurrected Latter-Days AME CME (a reference to historically African-American churches).

Knipp’s is also known for mocking the black American holiday Kwanzaa and makes fun of stereotypical-sounding black names in a music video entitled, “Who Is My Baby’s Daddy,” where his character Shirley Q. Liquor tries to recollect the names of her “chirrun,” “…Cheeto, Orangello, Chlamydia, and Kmartina…”

WWW.BanShirleyQLiquor.com has been launched in an attempt to ban Knipp’s minstrel show. Also, “The Bev Smith Show” on American Urban Radio Networks (AURN) will dedicate its entire broadcast today (8:12 p.m.-10 p.m. ET) to the campaign to ban Shirley Q. Liquor and spread the word about his upcoming performances.

National Black talk radio “The Bev Smith Show” on American Urban Radio Networks (AURN) will dedicate its entire Monday, March 3 (7p-10p ET) broadcast to the campaign to ban Shirley Q. Liquor and spread the word about his upcoming performances. AURN is the only African-American owned network radio company in the United States. It is the largest network reaching urban America, with more than 200 weekly shows, AURN reaches an estimated 20 million listeners.

“We believe that if Mr. Knipp is a true talent, he can find plenty of folks who look just like him to present in 3-dimensional caricature,” read a statement from Smith’s camp. “If he really is funny, then he can find more than enough insulting and stereotypical elements of his own group, their background, and their culture, to mock. HE DOES NOT NEED OURS. As it is said, we have enough problems.

“As if injury could further be added to this insult, a recent posting to his website allegedly included the headshot of well-respected journalist/activist Jasmyne Cannick–a woman who daily responds to and fights for the rights and dignity of persons of color and the LGBT communities–edited atop the body of a naked and hefty-breasted woman.

Understand this, please: One of our journalists has been insulted. Would Charles Knipp have done this to an AP journalist? Would the head of Mike Wallace or Cokie Roberts or Jorge Ramos be used this way without response from their respective communities? We think not.”

Cannick added: “Imus may have called Black women ‘nappy-headed ho’s,’ but it’s Knipp who routinely tries to bring that image to life onstage as Shirley Q. Liquor. The hypocrisy is sickening. Isaiah Washington was unable to escape the wrath of gay America, but Charles Knipp, a white gay man, can perform a blackface minstrel and be rewarded by gay Americans to the tune of $90k annually. Someone has some explaining to do. This has gone on for far too long under the radar.”
