Getting A Degree…Not as Painful as it used to be
DO NOT USE THESE WORDS IN YOUR POST – class, classes, instructor, instructors, easy
I'm on hiatus from school. Reason: $$$$. I regret not doing my homework before signing the papers, because the school I attended, University of Phoenix, milked me for all that I was worth. NEVER ever go to a private university that is for profit! Also, when I go back to school it will online. Pursuing an online degree gives you the freedom to commit to academia without sacrificing your life-as I did.

In doing a little research, I've come across a university that caters to those such as myself in pursuit of a degree: Western Governors University. For those pursuing an online business degree, you're able to pursue Bachelor's or Master's degrees but WGU differs in that you're billed one FLAT RATE instead of being charged per subject! For most programs, tuition is only $2,890 every six months! Now, I'm not sure if Obama had anything to do with this tuition or not lol but I think school has definitely set a precedent. My subjects were $1500 each-isn't that ridiculous?!
WGU is a relatively new in that it's 12yrs old, but I like the fact the university was founded by NINETEEN (19) U.S governors who wanted to assist working adults. And yes, it's accredited.
But here's what I love (and am also kind of scared of lol): EACH STUDENT is assigned a mentor. A mentor?! Does this even sound like an American university??Their assignment is to motivate and guide the student. That's crazy!! Also, instead of waiting for the customary time to graduate, January or June…you graduate as soon as you completed the requirements!!
What do you…we have to lose? Check out the links above-in the time of a recession attending a university at a fraction of the cost is a very attractive thought!
How you been hun? I pray that all is well with you and yours! I’m already in too deep! I’m going to UOP but online and I’ll be finished in May 2010. That will be just the Associates in Human Services management. I plan to go on for a BA but I do not know if it will be at UOP or not, I’m still investigating.
stay blessed!
